Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born 26 March 1991 is also known by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female to be signed by J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her first single was released for the label on Oct. 21st of 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May of 2019. Ari Lennox released her debut tracks online in 2012. She dropped five singles in 2013 and Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014 she continued to release her music on the web including her self release single Bound. In 2015she sung in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album with the track Sweat It Out on the 21st of July. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time, wanted to have her do some Rihanna reference. The official signing ceremony was held by Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat, the track which she co-wrote alongside Cozz on her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. In October 2016, she released her first EP, Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening artist to J. Cole on his track Change in 2017, and appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She was also featured on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas as her labelmates. On July 16, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on September 5. Her second single, Grampa on November 9. On November 13 she then released two more singles called No One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019 for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured alongside Cole on Creed II's sound track. Creed II sound track on November 16. On February 20, 2019 she released a music video released for the song. It has already received more than three million hits on YouTube within its first week. She was part of The From East Atlanta With Love Tour along with 6LACK.
